Gifts For Armed Forces Day From Pearl Harbor National Memorial

On the 3rd Saturday of May, Americans honor the men and women who serve in the United States' armed forces. This is a spectacular day to gift someone with a precious tribute to their life's work and sacrifices for their country.

Pearl Harbor National Memorial has a wonderful collection of beautiful gifts that are perfect for any soldier (or Veteran) that you know. All of these items ship from Hawaii, which just makes this list extra special.

1. Flags Flown At Pearl Harbor National Memorial

Receiving a flag flown at Pearl Harbor National Memorial is a one-of-a-kind gift unlike any other. This is where the attack on Pearl Harbor happened on December 7, 1941. It's the defining moment that opened up the path to America's involvement in World War II.

It's also a place of honor, respect, understanding and remembrance. Where bravery took place and quiet recollection happens everyday.

Only a 1,000 flags were flown on December 7 so this is as exclusive and limited as you can get. Or, if you prefer to have your flag flown on a particular date, we can do that, too!

2. Shadowboxes for Flags

If you purchase a flown flag from Pearl Harbor National Memorial, a handsome way to present it is with a shadowbox featuring an etching of the USS Arizona Memorial. We even have a koa wood shadowbox - native Hawaiian wood that is highly coveted for any woodwork.

Our shadowboxes look magnificent on any shelf and is certain to attract the eyes of anyone who walks by.

3. American Tribute Brand

We've partnered with American Tribute Brand and created an exclusive Pearl Harbor line that will impress anyone on Armed Forces Day. From the attack on Pearl Harbor to the USS Arizona Memorial, the range of shirts featuring Pearl Harbor make up a neat collection.

The cool thing about American Tribute Brand is that they're a 100% Veteran-owned company and a portion of the profits go back to the Veteran community to support Veteran initiatives. So an American Tribute Brand gift gives twice!

4. Harley-Davidson And Pearl Harbor Collaboration Shirts

You can't get much more "American" than Harley-Davidson, where the motorcycle culture of lone riders and black leather jackets came to be. It made complete sense for us to collaborate with Harley-Davidson to create an exclusive Harley-Davidson and Pearl Harbor line that you can't get anywhere else in the world.

The "bike that won the war" or Pearl Harbor heroes shirts are very popular and make for a fantastic gift for Armed Forces Day. Besides shirts, we also have hats, pins, patches, keychains and mugs, too - perfect for the Harley-Davidson collector (especially if they love exclusive items!).

5. Spread Peace With Sadako Sasaki

The true story of Sadako Sasaki is a story of a young girl and world peace. Diagnosed with the A-bomb disease after the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Sadako spent her last days folding 1,000 paper cranes in an effort to make one wish - a wish that has come true.

One of Sadako's final cranes can be found at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, but it's her story that resonates with visitors worldwide. Here at Pearl Harbor, we now have a Peace Crane Project where children from Japan write words of hope and peace on folded cranes and are passed out to Pearl Harbor visitors.

It's a fitting gift for anyone on Armed Forces Day because peace is something we all work towards.

"I will write peace on your wings and you will fly all over the world."

6. Pearl Harbor Survivor Memorabilia

To be lucky enough to have met a survivor, Pearl Harbor or not, is a spectacular event. Survivors are few and far between and what they have lived through goes beyond what most of us will ever experience.

We have a unique selection of items related to Pearl Harbor survivors and some of them are even autographed. If you know someone who would appreciate this one-of-a-kind gift on Armed Forces Day, definitely check out our Pearl Harbor Survivors Collection.

Lou Conter shares his Pearl Harbor experiences with high school students throughout Northern California, and he returns to the USS Arizona every December to take part in National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day activities to honor and remember the 2,403 service members and civilians who were killed during the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor. In 2019, Conter was one of only three remaining crew members out of the 335 who had survived the attack on the USS Arizona.
