Haleakala National Park was established in 1916 to protect and conserve the rare and delicate ecosystems found in the park. Haleakala means "House of the Sun" and a clear sunrise viewed from the summit, which sits 10,023 feet above sea level, is arguably the most beautiful in the world.
This commemorative color patch illustrates that sunrise over Haleakala's peaks. Top of patch reads "Haleakala National Park" and bottom reads Maui, Hawaii. Patch measures 3.5" in diameter.
