The Storm is Unleashed...
It is the opening moment of the attack on the battle line at Pearl Harbor. The assaults on Oahu by the Imperial Japanese Navy's first wave strike of 183 aircraft have begun at 7:45 a.m.
Here, at 7:55 a.m., Japanese torpedo planes from the aircraft carrier Akagi have begun their assault on the battle line of the Pacific Fleet that is moored along the east shore of Ford Island.
The Nakajima Type 97 B5N2 torpedo bomber in the foreground is piloted by Seaman 1st Class Fukuji Inoue. Flying just 30 feet above the harbor's surface, he has just released a shallow water torpedo against Battleship Row. The storm is unleashed...the Pacific War has begun!
