The Curtiss P-40 was an American-made single-engine, single-seat, fighter that was used in great numbers in World War II. The P-40 was flown by 28 countries, but the name "Warhawk" is unique to the American P-40s as this was the name adopted by the U.S. Army Air Corps for all U.S. models. P-40s were used as fighters, bomber escorts and fighter-bombers.
