Illuminating Ourselves is a reflection of artists and the art of life. A collection of art, photos, potraits, poems, and essays from contributors who come from different backgrounds and different cultures, but have all experienced social injustice and struggled to regain the most basic rights of humanity. Each in their own unique way has refused to accept the labels, limitations and stereotypes that society has sought to impose upon them.
Through their lives, their art, their poetry, essays, books and music, they have chosen to define themselves rather than let others define them. In so doing, they have provided society with a radiant legacy of light.
Softcover. 119 pages. Includes color and black and white photographs.
