Kalaupapa National Historical Park was established in 1980 to recognize the history of this beautiful site. In 1866 the first group of Hansen's Disease patients was forced into isolation at Kalaupapa to prevent the spread of leprosy. It was the humanity of Saint Damien that brought hope to the Settlement, where he lived and worked with the people from 1873 until his death in 1889.
This commemorative color 3D PVC magnet bears the image of St. Philomena church, one of the historical structures that the Park preserves.
Top of magnet reads "Kalaupapa National Historical Park" and bottom reads "Moloka'i, Hawaii". Magnet measures approximately 2.4" in diameter.
