Haleakala National Park was established in 1916 to protect and conserve the rare and delicate ecosystems found in the park. Haleakala means "House of the Sun" and a clear sunrise viewed from the summit, which sits 10,023 feet above sea level, is arguably the most beautiful in the world.
This commemorative color pin from the Hawaii National Park Collection, bears the silhouette of Haleakala's peaks as seen during this sunrise. Top of pin reads "Haleakala National Park" and bottom reads "Maui, Hawaii". Pin measures 1" in diameter.
